On the bus, somewhere between Kaohsiung and Tainan:
This land is scarred and gone brown with thirst, deprived by pipes and pumped out of chimneys; cut into roads and roadsides and blocks. Where elsewhere instincts pull me in and make me wanna fly cross fields on a rampage holy, this ruined landscape leaves me unwilling. Bring back that will to be caught up in the majesty of nature, send me to some unspoiled place.
